Geranium 'Rozanne'
Winning the award of Perennial Plant of the Year 2008 is Geranium 'Rozanne'. This strong performing hardy geranium was discovered in the garden of Donald and Rozanne Waterer in Somerset England in 1989. The iridescent violet-blue, saucer-shaped flowers are 2 1/2" across with purple violet veins and white centers. They have one of the longest flowering periods of any hardy geranium, blooming from late spring to mid fall. Geranium 'Rozanne' can be used as a ground cover or speciment plant. It's energetic habit makes it a great candidate for patio containers, window boxes and hanging baskets as well. 'Rozanne' is a good companion plant to Shasta daisy, perennial salvia, speedwell, hostas and short ornamental grasses. It grows 20-24 inches in height and spreads 24-28 inches wide. It grows best in full sun to part shade and prefers moist, well-drained soil. It is hardy in zones 5 to 8. Geranium are deer resistant.
